Fireplace decoration using candles

Decorating your old and unused fireplace may not be a new concept and I’m sure you will find many ideas to match your style and taste. As more and more homes are becoming energy efficient, the old wood-burning fireplaces have taken a back seat to being the focal point in a room. Despite their intrinsic charm, these interior behemoths have been a challenge to clean, added too much air pollution, not to mention being an easy entry for pests into the house. While many people have converted these to gas fireplaces, some older homes still have them sitting unused, idle and as an eyesore. An easy way to take care of the problem is to find the right fireplace decoration to spice them up, like candles. They are pretty, charming and what’s more, very eco-friendly.

A look at the picture set above will give you an immediate idea of how transformed your room can look when you use candles as fireplace decoration.  You can see the uniformity in the choice of candles which is nicely contrasted with the different shapes and sizes. Also, there is varied used of candle stands which provides an additional design element to the whole area. The fireplace will be immediately converted from an eyesore to an attractive focal point like it was meant to be.

Then there are designs that proclaim the elegant and feminine nature of the occupant as you can see in the next image. See how beautifully the unused fireplace corner has been renovated and transformed to showcase the owner’s delightful feminine side.  The carved white design on the fireplace wall will balance out the changes in the candles and other accessories, always keeping this area a calm and soothing zone.

On the other end of the spectrum is the deliberate rustic look that is such a rage with interior designers these days. For older homes with very rustic looking fireplaces this is such a boon for they don’t have to worry about complicated renovations anymore. It is easy to get this rustic chic look, especially if you have an old stone or brick fireplace as you can see images below. A flat piece of wood is placed on a log rack and candles with wide bases are placed on top. These are further embellished with colored balls, decorative pine cones and frilly ribbons on the side. The candles themselves can be scented or plain but would look great when they come in varying heights and widths and even different color schemes.

If you are not quite the down to earth kind then you can opt for the elegant chic instead. Take a look at the image below to see how a little color in your candle selection can add a world of difference to your room.

If your home interiors are have classically elegant looks then you might want something a little more different. As you can see in the image below, carefully selected period pieces and traditional candle stands perfectly match the ornate design of the fireplace. It is a fast and easy way to create that ultimate elegant fireplace decoration for your favorite room.

The two designs below are my absolute favorites as they speak of a timeless elegance and can be arranged to match any kind of room or décor.

The festive season is upon us and you will find that nothing enhances the holiday cheer more than the specially selected candles on display all around your fireplace. The next few images showcase how you can use the different kinds of candle décor to match the change in festivities.

If you are looking for a fireplace decoration that is indeed timeless and can be effortlessly displayed despite the changing seasons then take a look at the image below. This arrangement has perfected the art of the classic look and is yet so simple, which means that it can match all kinds of home decors easily
